Indoor Temperature Sensor Readings at NYCHA Developments

During heat season (October 1 through May 31), NYCHA is committed to maintaining the following temperatures in apartments, in accordance with New York City Administrative Code:

  1. between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., a temperature of at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit whenever the outside temperature falls below 55 degrees; and

  2. between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., a temperature of at least 62 degrees Fahrenheit.

Eight NYCHA developments currently have apartment temperature sensors. By 2020, 58 additional developments will have these indoor apartment temperature sensors, which are being installed as part of a new building management system (BMS).
